What is JSON-LD?

JSON-LD is short for JavaScript Object Notation for Linked Data. It is essentially a light weight data format that connects linked data across different websites and is easy to read and write. In February of last year, Google began supporting JSON-LD for product reviews and products rich snippets.

What are Rich Snippets?

A rich  snippet is the extra text that you will find below certain websites in Google searches that provides additional information about the link and content in the link.

Why is JSON-LD important to me?

JSON-LD allows your website to provide Google and other search engines with data including specific product information and reviews in addition to the standard meta title and description that is provided to Google.

What type of data can be provided to search engines via JSON-LD?

Type, Name, Image, Description, Brand, Aggregate Rating, Average Rating, Review Count, Offers, Price, Reviews, Best Rating, and Wost Rating.

What is the difference between a rating and a review?

A rating is a value that a product receives on a scale from one to five while a review uses the same scale but adds a written explanation to the rating.

JSON-LD is a type of structured data that can help give your brand’s visibility a real boost. With Google making a shift towards trying to display more information in their Search Engine Results Pages, JSON-LD is your answer to providing Google and other search engines with the information they need to dig deeper into your website than the Meta Title and Description.
